Dental Implants in London

Dental Implants in Kentish Town, Camden and Holloway

If you have one or more missing teeth, our dental Implants offer an effective and long lasting way to restore your smile and tooth functionality. They are also a great solution for denture wearers as ill-fitting dentures can cause a number of problems, such as speech or chewing difficulties.

Tooth loss can significantly affect your self-confidence, how you speak, or the foods you choose to eat and can stop you smiling. It can also cause bone degeneration as there is no natural stimulation from the teeth, leading to a prematurely aged look. Also any remaining teeth may start to move and twist, encouraging trapped food and associated nasties such as bad breath, cavities or gum disease.

Some restorative treatments require healthy teeth to be filed down, which can cause problems for the gums or root canals, leading to further decay. While a bridge can be a good solution, an implant is easier to clean and does not need an attachment that can damage neighbouring teeth.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant consists of a tough titanium cylinder that will support an artificial crown or bridge to blend with your natural teeth. This implant is carefully inserted into your jawbone and then, over a matter of months, it fuses with the bone to ensure a tight fit.

How is it fitted?

We will assess your teeth, gums and the condition of your jaw bone during an initial consultation and devise a tailor-made treatment plan. If your jaw bone is not able to support implants, we will ascertain if you need bone grafting to ensure that it can.

A small cut is made in the gum and the implant is carefully inserted, then you will have to wait for the metal post to fuse with your jaw bone – a process known as ‘osseointegration’. This will normally take 3-9 months, after which time the crown or bridge can be attached.

If you pay good attention to your oral health, there really is no reason why your implants should not last for years. Dental implants need to be treated just like your natural teeth – that means lots of brushing and flossing and keeping up to date with your dental check-ups.

Brecknock Dental implants

Thanks to our skill and dedicated after-care service, we boast a high success rate with dental implants. We also use Zimmer and Bicon Dental Implants: Zimmer are experienced implant specialists and offer some of the highest-quality and most technologically advanced products available today, and Bicon implants are a little smaller than most, so they can be successfully fitted in patients who have significantly less bone density, and who may have normally needed lengthy grafting procedures.
